Individual traceability for beverage kegs
Türk Tuborg's production facility in Izmir manufactures alcoholic beverages using reusable kegs, each with a unique identifier.
The project was implemented to reliably identify every keg and associate it with the correct pallet before shipment.
Unreadable IDs and pallet matching risks
Unique keg IDs could not always be captured through conventional barcode reading methods. An alternative solution was required to prevent production interruptions and ensure accurate keg-to-pallet association.

OCR-supported keg and pallet verification
A C# application receives production orders from SAP and guides the operator. Each keg ID is first read using conventional code reading technology. If this fails, OCR technology is used to identify the code. Verified keg IDs are then associated with pallets and pallet labels are automatically generated.

The operator selects the appropriate production order received from SAP.
Barcode Reading
The system attempts to read the unique keg identifier using conventional code reading.
OCR Verification
If barcode reading fails, OCR technology is used to identify the keg ID.
Pallet Association
Verified keg IDs are linked to pallets and pallet labels are printed automatically.
