Lot / Batch Tracking

In traceability processes, batch/lot tracking is preferred in processes where it is difficult to track products individually depending on the process. The concept of a batch is obtained with the production date and batch component in a way that allows backward traceability of the manufactured products. It ends with packaging, storage, and reaching the final consumer.
Traceability applications contain a lot of data such as consumed material details, equipment and processes used, collected parametric and quality data, and the reasons causing exceptions. Therefore, in a traceability process, both single product and batch/lot tracking methodologies can be applied simultaneously.
In order to provide maximum transparency in batch/lot tracking processes, batch/lot, serial number, and other critical data or their combinations must be monitored and tracked.
For an effective Batch/lot tracking:
- Each product group must be clearly marked.
- A record of batch/lot identification and target details must be kept.
- Records of operations that are critical for mandatory security needs and quality according to the sector must be kept.
